The Zebra Mussel
Meet the zebra mussel, the smallest specie of freshwater mussel in the world. These beautiful bivalves are unique because of the black stripes that covers its tan/beige colored shell. The zebra mussel is a invasive species that was originally found in streams in Russia. Today, the zebra mussel is found all across the the Eastern United states after it was carried to America when they attached themselves to the sides of Russian settler's boats. The purpose of this website is for me to try and give you as much knowledge on the zebra mussel as I can. The things that I am going to be talking about on this website the mostly is the ecology and the physiology specific to the zebra mussel.
